This shoreline home for New York City commuters was converted from a two-family colonial house to an elegant single family home with urban townhouse appeal. The original shared entry vestibule was converted to a large, open stairway, visually connecting the living spaces and entertaining spaces on both the first and second floors. While the open stairway, sprawling rooms and broad interior balconies allude to urban loft living, the period details and casework are highlighted and enhanced, maintaining the colonial charm of the neighborhood vernacular.
