This shoreline weekend home with sweeping views out across marshlands towards the beach originally included an attached apartment rental. The owners wished to remove the apartment and add 1,350 square feet of space including an exercise room, master suite and new garage. The addition, designed by Lynda Stone, was oriented to take full advantage of the expansive views from the exercise room and master bedroom, while not disturbing the existing vistas from the living spaces. The exercise space was conceived of as a knuckle joining the public spaces to the new private spaces and is articulated with its own gable and diagonal placement. A new spacious deck for entertaining wrapped across the entire back of the house providing ample outdoor living space.
